We’ve all been there, in one form or another – be it career, romance, lifestyle, religion or just day-to-day choices! You know you should follow your heart, but that’s not as easy as it sounds! Firstly, society shapes us into the “good girl/boy” figures that we are expected to conform to. This makes us muffle the sounds of our heart. Secondly, if you are lucky enough to hear your heart, going against societal norms might be difficult for you or others to digest. It would mean breaking down the proverbial box that you have so safely settled into.
Yes, following your heart is one of the hardest tasks you will ever have to conquer…So you have two options – take a massive risk and follow your heart or choose to suppress it and be safe! To take a risk, hopefully you will find a time in your life where you have a good enough safety blanket to give you the courage to take the risk that your heart is telling you to take! I tell myself this: Big risks come with greater rewards!
Some inspiring steps:
- Spend time understanding what you want in life…understand your own desires and what makes your spirit fly
- Be grateful for where you are and what you have, even if it’s not exactly what your heart wants…you’ll get to your final goal building from what you have so far.
- Once you’ve heard your heart…build courage, take a deep breath and take that jump….obviously when you are ready and committed (nothing worse than jumping then trying desperately to scramble back up) and generally have a support system and back up in place.
- Once you’ve jumped, get ready to spread your wings, think positively, and SOAR higher than you ever thought possible….your heart knows what you need…so listen!
